At work with Clayhaus Consulting in 2010 PDF Print E-mail

2010 saw a continued diversity of work and clients for Clayhaus Consulting.

For Athena Feminine Technologies -- a start-up medical device company based in the Bay Area -- project management, IT consulting, website configuration and implementation were the main projects during the year. As part of all of this, two new Athena websites went live. One of these is a consumer-oriented blog and forum site while the other is a commercial site for over-the-counter online purchases in the UK. Work is continuing on a new US site to replace the aging current web presence.

Closer to home, working with a local environment non-profit group -- HEAL Utah -- I managed the planning, development and rollout of a new sister site focused on renewable energy for the state of Utah. Called eUtah Project, this site is built upon the Drupal CMS platform.

Another Drupal project for a non-profit, I took over the technical management of the Wasatch Camera Club's website.  This site features lots of different modules and functionalities including galleries, webforms, and an integrated calendar. I am also managing their Facebook page.

The year of social networking? Perhaps, but I do know that manging various social media has become ever-present in my workday. A new assignment for me at the end of the year was launching the Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club's Facebook page.

Finally, another web project still in progress was started in December. This is for an artists' cooperative gallery called Local Colors of Utah. Stay tuned for that rollout...it should be forthcoming any day now!

2009 could be called the year of Internet and Social Media strategizing and implementation, as least with regards to Clayhaus Consulting. Whereas in the past I worked on or led huge pharmaceutical-centric manufacturing or laboratory systems implementations, this year my clients were small, diverse (medical device and non-profits), and focused on executing Internet-related projects.

Athena Feminine Technologies is a start-up medical device company based in the Bay Area. Currently they have one product that is sold via prescription in the US but in the UK and Europe this device can be purchased over-the-counter and directly from a website. I function as the project manager to a) replace the existing US site, b) launch a new eCommerce UK site, and c) build a social media presence for the company and its product. The new UK website was just launched in coordination with a larger UK marketing push featuring television and print media. Social media presences are also being developed and next up is to replace the US website.

In a different vein, Renewable Energy Resources - a new Salt Lake City non-profit focused on energy and conservation education - needed a website to act as their 'storefront.' I worked directly Bill Barron, the Executive Director, to help develop both the website and presences on several social media outlets. While Third Sun Productions performed the coding, I assisted Bill in crafting an Internet strategy and acted as a media and editorial analyst.

Another startup, Pinpoint Genomics needed a simple web presence to communicate their goals to potential investors. The site also needed to be easily editable for future updates. Consequently, I built this site on a Content Management System called Joomla and had it in production within several days.

For another (soon-to-acquire the status of) non-profit corporation that is in its infancy, I have designed a logo, letterhead, developed and just launched its website. Called Books Inside, this NPO's mission is to gather used, unwanted books on the "outside" and donate them to prison libraries where they may be read "inside."
