Clayhaus Photography Working with Non-Profits |

I have been volunteering/working with a few local environmental and land conservation non-profit organizations for a year or so. This 'work' runs the gamut from simply donating photographs for use in newsletters to actively photographing events and lands to sitting on the Board of Directors. Here are a few of my activities...
Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club: The Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club publishes a newsletter (paper and PDF) seasonally. In the Spring 2010 issue you can find numerous thoughtful articles as two images I took in the Bentonite Hills and of a dramatic hoodoo near Moab.
Friends of the Great Salt Lake: An active volunteer for FoGSL, I have photographed a number of events including field trips to Antelope Island and the Spiral Jetty, as well as the bi-annual Issues Forum. They have also utilized a number of my photographs for brochures, posters and their latest 4-color newsletter.
The Wilderness Society: Earlier this past winter I was contacted by the southwest region director of The Wilderness Society who found me via an Internet search (thank you Google!). She was interested in photographs of realitvely obscure mountain ranges in the southwast area of Utah's West Desert. I agreed to take trips southward to document via photos these mountain ranges -- the Wah Wah Mountains, the Mountain Home Range, the San Francisco Mountains, the Mineral Mountains, and the Kingston Canyon area -- and have provided a number of these images as part of their proposal to include these lands in widerness packages.
HEAL Utah: Recently elected to the Board of Directors of this "watchdog" organization, I have also donated images for use in promotional pieces as well as part of an award to a national level politician. |

Begining 1-May, The Great Salt Lake Institute at Westminister College is sponsoring a week-long, mixed-media art exhibit celebrating the Great Salt Lake. Entitled "Mirror Image," the show features works of art from over 30 artists, including my self. I have one piece in the exhibit that I have named Bronze Sunset. |

Kimball Art in Park City put on an exhibit called "Pin-ups" in Janurary. Kimball members were allowed to literally pin-up two pieces of their art for the month-long run. I hungs tow 11 x 17 prints from my In a Different Light portfolio: Spiral Jetty and Fremont Island. Both images were captured with my infrared-adapted Fuji IS-1 camera.

Eccles Community Art Center - 12th B&W Competition |
|
|
|
|
In early February I submitted two images for consideration to the juried Eccles Community Art Center's 12th annual Statewide B&W Competition. This is a mixed media exhibit with everything from sculpture to painting to photography. One of my images was accepted and though it did not win it is on display with many other object d'arts until the end of March. Both images were captured with infrared-adapted cameras on a recent winter trip to Bryce Canyon. The accepted image was taken with my Fuji IS-1 and the non-accepted image was captured with a converted Pentax DS.
